Special Glass Products

Best practice

We care about your artwork and recommend the right glass for each job. All paper products require glazing. Colours can fade when exposed to ultraviolet light and excessive reflections can ruin the enjoyment of your art. Weight and safety can sometimes be an issue too, and so we provide a range of glazing products to suit your individual needs.
Below is our list of glass products and their uses so you can rest assured of being kept in the picture.

Float glass

We use only high-quality papered 2mm float glass. Made just for the framing industry it is excellent for general and non-valuable items. It is highly reflective and has a slight green cast but is perfect for keeping costs low.

Clear Acrylic

A high-quality clear acrylic which is colour-neutral, shatterproof and lightweight. A sound alternative to float glass when framing large items or for safe transportation.

AcryGuard Acrylic (UV)

A strong conservation plastic glazing, scratch-resistant, and shatter-resistant while blocking 99% of UV light.

It provides up to 100% protection from UV rays preserving your artwork for a lifetime and beyond. We recommend this durable product for artworks with high monetary or sentimental value and travelling exhibits that benefit from safer and easier transportation. This glass is scratch-resistant, and shatter-resistant while blocking 99% of UV light. With 1.0% reflection, it is marvellous.

Artglass UV 99

This product provides UV protection by blocking out 99% of harmful rays thus helping prevent the treasured keepsake from fading as well as yellowing of photographs or paper becoming brittle. While this conservation-grade product looks like regular glass its 99% UV block means that UV damage is nearly impossible. We recommend this product for framing jobs that require the ultimate UV protection.

Artglass AR 92

This glass is used for clarity and trueness of colour when the danger of UV damage is present. We recommend this product for photography and high-value artwork that requires optimal UV protection and superb anti-reflection. The look is fantastic and only sacrifices 2% of available UV protection.

We never use:

Diffused-reflection glass

This is a glass that has had its surface etched matt, once popular but it can be damaging to valuable or sentimental artwork.

Acrylic Displays

We also supply acrylic displays, canvas dust covers, frames, and trays.
